Kaupapa

To bring together Muaūpoko/Ngai Tara decendents who are interested in the arts to learn about whakapapa, our rohe, our history and creation traditions and our environment through visual art mediums and tikanga Māori.

Programme Outcomes

Graduates of this programme will gain an understanding of their Muaūpoko whakapapa, the history and creation traditions of our people and the current issues affecting our people and environment.

By the end of this programme, tauira will have participated in a number of individual and group projects which will require both research/theory and practical skill development.

On completion of the programme, we will work together to identify and plan future pathways for each tauira, this may include but is not limited to further study, apprenticeships, internships etc.  They will have a complete portfolio of work which they can present if required for programme entry/further study etc.

Programme Duration: One year

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites but potential tauira should be able to present some examples of work/drawings or a portfolio of some sort. They will also have a one on one interview to ensure they are aware of the programme intentions and workload.
